The 24th meeting of the communist and workers’ parties, which come together every year, will be held in Lebanon in October this year. The meeting, which was organised by the Communist Party of Turkey in İzmir last year, will be hosted by the Lebanese Communist Party this time.
Last weekend, the Communist Party of Turkey participated in the working group meeting, where the preparations for the meeting in October were discussed. Fifteen parties from 14 countries participated in the meeting in Beirut.
The gathering of communist and workers’ parties in Lebanon has a special meaning for the communist and workers’ parties, which have been in solidarity with the Palestinian people against the Israeli aggression from the beginning. As the Israeli aggression spreads to Lebanon, the Lebanese Communist Party is giving revolutionary strength to the ongoing preparations to form a line of resistance in the country against these aggressions. The meeting to be held in the region will be a salute to the struggle of the Lebanese communists as well as an expression of solidarity with the Palestinian resistance.
The theme of the working group meeting in October is “Strengthening the internationalist struggle against capitalism and imperialist aggression, which generate fascism, for the support of the Palestinian people and its resistance, for national and social liberation, for progress and socialism”. At the end of the meeting, a joint statement reiterating solidarity with the Palestinian people was accepted.
