TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan made the following statement on the assassination of Hamas leader Haniyeh in Iran:
“The assassination of Hamas leader Haniyeh in Tehran is a new evidence that rulelessness and the law of the jungle have become the only rules. It was the Soviet Union that stood up to the imperialist system and ensured that certain rules were imposed on the international arena and that no one could do whatever they wanted. Conflicts broke out, political murders were still committed, but everyone felt the pressure of a social system that systematically opposed armaments and defended social justice and equality. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the number of hot conflicts suddenly increased, and step by step we returned to a world where no one recognise any rules. Today, the only measure in the world is ‘power’. ‘I can go and shoot someone in another country. I invade another country. I don’t recognise borders. I am right because my interests are above all else…’ Israel is the ‘model’ state of this world. The most spoilt, the most arrogant, the most murderous, the most reckless, the most cruel. We are talking about a country that is gradually losing its right to exist, its legitimacy. But let’s not forget that social inequalities are the source of international irregularities. The system of holdings and monopolies, which we are questioning and standing up against, is a set of irregularities. For this reason, every capitalist country has the potential to become an ‘Israel’.”
