DON’T BE ASHAMED OF BEING A WORKER
Everything that is happening in the country, the cost of living, regional wars, drug traffickers in our neighborhoods, child abuse, femicides, all of these things affect your life deeply. Even a walk in the street is filled with fears for you. You struggle to make ends meet. While wondering if the wage raise at the beginning of the year will be enough to last the whole year, the possibility of being suddenly shown the door always looms in the back of your mind…
The cost of living, its but a pain that hurts every day. It’s not like you are well off like a deep pockted leech with savings that could last for months. Forget about not getting paid for a whole month, even a small delay in payment throws everything into chaos.
YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE.
MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS ARE IN DIRE STRAITS, JUST LIKE YOU.
WE ARE WORKERS! THEY ARE BUT A FEW AND WE ARE MILLONS!
Those millions of people—meaning you, your coworkers, or those working in different workplaces, the unemployed, the retirees—all those who have no other source of income apart from their wages or salaries…
Each of you, forced to live by constantly budgeting and yet unable to see beyond the next step, while a handful of others live a five-star life in abundance. And they do it right in front of your eyes, flaunting their luxury!
That flashy, privileged minority spends their vacations abroad, dines at the finest and most expensive places, sends their children to the best schools money can buy, and gets treated at the most luxurious clinics.
You might have a car one makes you wonder how many times you can fill up the tank that month—or maybe you don’t even have one. But they ride around in luxury cars worth tens of millions, driven by minimum-wage chauffeurs.
They have a fortune in the bank, yachts, properties, businesses, factories, capital, and wealth beyond comprehension… Meanwhile, you have nothing but the salary you can earn, if you’re lucky enough, just to make it till the end of the month.
Why do you think, there is such a jaw-dropping level of inequality?
SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU ARE A WORKER AND HE IS A GREEDY CAPITALIST
This is the unique reason of inequality: There are capitalists.
WHAT DOES A CAPITALIST DO?
THEY EXPLOIT WORKERS. THIS IS THEIR SOLE REASON OF EXISTENCE!
How? Let’s explain.
You work all day long and produce a good or service. It could be a car produced in this factory, or coffee sold in a chain shop. The boss pays you a salary for your work. Our labor, along with the other materials, make up that product. In the end, the resulting goods and services reach a value far greater than the total value of the materials and labor used in their production. The resulting difference in value? That’s the profit. The boss sells the good or service that you created at that value and pockets the resulting profit.
But the difference, what the boss calls profit, is a value that is entirely the result of your labor.
In fact, you create a new value that is many times greater than the value paid to you for your labor power. The boss doesn’t pay you this, he confiscates it under the name of profit and adds to his fortune.
This is exploitation.
The unpaid value of labor confiscated by the boss. It’s his yatch, his real estate, his wealth… In other words, the wealth we talked about at the beginning comes from here.
He also uses a portion of the profits he seizes to buy new equipment, in other words, as capital. New factory, new chain supermarket, new workshop, new company… This is where “growth” comes from, still from your labor.
In other words, all of this happens with the part of the value you create through your labor that isn’t given to you. What is paid to you, your salary, is just a drop in the ocean.
This is the orijin of all inequalities.
The source of poverty, helplessness, living in anxiety, and all forms of inequality lies here, in exploitation, in the existence of the bosses.
BUT WE DON’T NEED BOSSES!
We don’t need bosses to share the things we produce with our labor, or the wealth of our country, equally. In fact, we need to get rid of them!
That’s right! Why should everything in this world—the land, the resources, the nature—belong to them?
Who gave them the right to own factories, mines, bussinesses they own?
They have usurped it. Thanks to the unpaid labor they seized in the name of profit!
Because they believe they have the right to exploit workers. To this end, lies, theft, war—everything is permissible.
But it is you, dear friend, who creates it all.
Then why are there bosses?
Do we really need them?
No! For we get poorer as they get richer.
It is possible.
The way to achieve this is through nationalization.
The wealth of the country should be distributed equally among the workers who create that wealth.
If the energy, industry, construction, and service sectors, along with the companies here, are nationalized, the billions of lira in profits that go into the pockets of the owners of these companies can be used for the people. We could meet our basic needs free of charge.
Education and healthcare for workers and their families would be of high quality and free of charge. Housing would become a right. Heating and lighting would be free of charge. We would have the chance to eat healthily. Our elderly would no longer be seen as a “burden”.
Imagine how wonderful this world would be without bosses!
REMEMBER YOU ARE A WORKER AND REALIZE YOUR POWER
But for that, you first need to remember that you are a worker. This is necessary for you to understand where your interests lie. It’s important for you to know that you’re not on the same boat, that you’re being exploited, and that it’s because of the bosses.
Remember you are a worker.
This is your strength.
For you create it all. It’s in your hands to change it.
HOW CAN OUR COUNTRY BE SAVED?
This country will be saved and improved by the labor of the workers. Being a worker means standing up for your labor and standing up for your country. Being a worker means no one can make decisions about us without asking, and a country cannot be governed without considering the workers.
Turkey can only be saved by those who know they are workers, by those who are aware of their strength because they are workers.
Throughout history, they have drove unnecessary divisions among the workers. However, history has been changed when workers united to demand their rights. When workers fought against the exploiters, at times they won their rights, at times they had laws passed, and in some cases, they founded their own countries.
Capitalists divide, labor unifies.
Now, the country needs you, needs the working class.
Are we going to leave our country, our labor, to conglomerates, the wealthy, and multinational monopolies?
The bourgeoisie has their system, the status quo. They have representatives, they have parties that defend their interests.
Their system means more war, more death, more poverty and decay.
You have your own strength. Workers also have representatives who defend their interests, they have a party.
Don’t be ashamed of being a worker.
There are millions of you and there is a party that unites you, the Communist Party of Turkey.
Join your party.
Don’t surrender your children, your future and the country to a handful of greedy bosses.
