Israel’s attacks against Palestine continue at full speed. Support for the attacks does not only come from Western countries. Hypocrisy is going on. Those who declare support for Palestine on the one hand continue to cooperate with Israel on the other.
In Turkey, the AKP government and capitalists are part of this hypocrisy. There are many questions to be answered, many relations to be uncovered.
The Communist Party of Turkey asks:
1. Does BOTAŞ (The Turkish Oil Pipeline Corporation) continue to ship oil to Israel?
BOTAŞ (The Turkish Oil Pipeline Corporation), a subsidiary of the Turkey Wealth Fund, owns various oil and natural gas transmission lines. In crude oil, BOTAŞ transports crude oil from Kirkuk in northern Iraq to the Yumurtalık district of Adana thanks to the Kirkuk-Yumurtalık Oil Pipeline. Another prominent line is the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Oil Pipeline. Oil extracted from the Caspian region, especially Azeri oil, is shipped to the world from Adana. One of the most important customers of BOTAŞ is Israel. We demand an explanation for this relationship!
2. Why doesn’t Zorlu Enerji cut off Israel’s electricity?
Zorlu Enerji, which has direct investments in Israel, produces electricity for the Israeli energy market with its natural gas cycle power plants, namely Ramat Nagev, Dorad and Ashdod. Why doesn’t the Turkish bourgeoisie, which protests the massacres in a token way, shut down the power plants?
3. Why do you continue to sell cement to Israel?
According to data from the Cement, Glass, Ceramics and Soil Products Exporters’ Association, Israel is Turkey’s second largest exporter of gray cement after the USA. Also, the annual capacity of 600 thousand tons has been exceeded in this area. In addition to this, the country with the highest export volume in white cement exports is Israel again, with 200 thousand tons per year. Prominent cement producers in Turkey, OYAK, Limak, Aşkale, Sanko, Sabancı have a share in these exports.
4. Why do you continue to sell iron and steel to Israel?
İçdaş, Kardemir, Kocaer, Özkan, Tosyalı, Çolakoglu, Çelsantaş, Erdemir and İsdemir firms also export to Israel.
5. Explain your relations with the Israeli arms industry!
The Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) arms company is known to have ties with the Turkish Armed Forces and the defense industry. In the past, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) have been purchased, and fighter jets have been modernized by this company. In which areas do you cooperate with the company today?
6. How do you condone the sale of oil and natural gas by Azerbaijani capital to Israel within Turkey’s borders?
SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic), which is owned by Azerbaijani state capital, has significant investments in Aliağa, Izmir. The company, which is a partner in the STAR and Petkim refineries, also owns its own port. Israel is also among the company’s important customers.
7.Why do Palestinians need a visa to enter Turkey?
Palestinians who want to enter Turkey need a visa. This visa costs 55 dollars. Israelis, on the other hand, can enter Turkey without a visa. (Arab countries with visa-free entry include Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Kuwait, Qatar and Lebanon).
