We have long been saying that the regime in Turkey has changed, that it is no longer a Republic and it has become an autocratic regime. Each day, there appears new proofs of this.
The most recent example of this took place as Turkish Medical Association’s (TMA) Central Council members were taken under custody, their houses were raided, and the central office of TMA was investigated by the police.
The de facto “President” shows the target, then the prosecution office and police forces aim the target after orders.
Any other institution or person has no right to declare an opposing view, or an opinion apart from that of the “President”, or to criticize the government.
The “President” can send troops to any country he wishes, can negotiate with any imperialist force he wishes, suspend anyone he wishes from duties; yet any opinion or act against this is considered as crime. We don’t accept this straitjacket that Turkey is being put into, which is essentially the preference of the capitalist class of Turkey.
TMA’s Central Council members must be released immediately, the right to speak and act of the people, associations, trade unions and professional chambers must be protected.
